Mo Prior and Priority Boxing are delighted to announce the next stage in their continued and increasing involvement in the career of Olympic Silver Medallist and 15 time All Ireland Champion, John Joe Nevin of Mullingar, Ireland.
John Joe will top Priority Boxing’s, 20th September, 2019, “Enter the Dragon” show (see below for address), which also features some outstanding Welsh Prospects. John Joe will box at super featherweight, with a quality opponent to be announced in the near future.
“What a pleasure it is to be promoting John Joe, he’s undefeated in 12 pro contests. In the next twelve months John Joe will go a long way to achieving his goal of winning a world title.
Working with one of boxing’s outstanding talents is a privilege and to be able to showcase a boxer of John Joe’s talent in the fight savvy city of Cardiff, fittingly, topping a show that features Welsh talent including Rhys Edwards and Nathan Thorley.
What a story and what pedigree John Joe Nevin has; 255 amateur contests, of which over 200 were internationals, only 15 losses and most of them by split decision.Olympic Silver, a double Olympian, twice World Bronze, all by split decisions to the eventual tournament winners. John Joe also won both the European and European Union Championships, becoming officially rated World Number One at his weight, before turning pro.
Priority Boxing have an ongoing working relationship with John Joe’s management, where we will look to build a similar support base in the UK and Ireland to match John Joe’s famed, Philadelphia following. All enabling John Joe to pursue his career both sides of the Atlantic- he made his pro debut in the USA, in Boston, live on TV there.
Then in Ireland John Joe had both his legs broken, for which he still awaits criminal compensation. He was told he wouldn’t walk again let alone box. John has boxed for over a year with 3lbs 9oz of metal in his legs. He was training in therapy pools in Philadelphia, with tears running down his checks from the pain, then has to take the best part of a year off after having the metal removed; so back into the therapy pools.
Now the suffering is over and his legs have never been stronger, plus he knows the weight he’ll be campaigning at- super featherweight. We at Priority Boxing cannot wait.”
