Siar Ozgul is relishing the step up to welterweight as he bids to become a two-weight Southern Area champion.
The London-based Turk (15-2) faces dangerous reigning champion Sam Antwi (9-1, 5 KOs) on the #MTKFightNight at York Hall on Friday – live on iFL TV – and is brimming with enthusiasm.
Ozgul impressed in taking former world champion Viktor Postol the distance in November and followed that up with a convincing win over Chris Adaway in February.
Ozgul said: “I have always said I will fight anyone. My goal now is to become English and then British champion but as I mentioned, I want to do it at welterweight and the first target I have is this Southern Area title.
“I love fighting and I loved fighting against Postol. It was a great experience. I want to go back up to welterweight now because it’s my strongest weight and I believe I can do much more than the Southern Area title I achieved as a super-lightweight.
“I was not mentally ready to fight Mikey Sakyi at the time and he caught me with a lucky shot. That’s boxing and it was my mistake. I could take the title back but I’ve other plans now.
“iFL TV is doing a great job for the sport of boxing and this is such a great opportunity for the boxers to show themselves to a live audience.”
The likes of IBO world champion Chantelle Cameron, title-hunting London light-heavyweight Dan Azeez and many more will compete for limelight on a stacked card this week.
